Cool River's  Newsletter 2015  Number 2

Welcome to our last 2015 news update.

The band finished a successful 2014 playing to a packed house at Oberon RSL: our 3rd year in a row at this venue. One big highlight in 2014, was having the privilege to play after the dawn service on ANZAC Day at St Mary’s RSL. We were invited to play a number of new venues for the band around Sydney and do a few Auditorium shows, the first one being at Doyalson RSL. We have been appearing again at many of these venues during 2015. A big thanks to the venues and agencies that have booked Cool River in 2015.

Our New Show

Our "Feelin’ Groovy" show is a tribute to the 1960’s that has had our audiences dancing and singing along to many of the classic hits of that Era. (Refer to home page for more information)

New Songs
There are lots of bands playing 60’s music, but they tend to be playing songs from the Monkees, Rolling Stones and Beatles. We have taken that further by adding a much more varied selection. We are performing songs that the audience and band really connect with (well we were around in the 60’s/70's...). Our repertory which is in excess of 200 songs includes, to name a few:
"It’s My Party" and gets the party started with popular hit from Lesley Gore 1963, "Time Warp" , Rocky Horror show, "Elenore" a popular hit from the Turtles, "Working For The Week-End" a hit by Loverboy, "Mama Told Me Not to Come" a 3 Dogs Night version from this 1966 song,"Summer in the City" as recorded by The Lovin’ Spoonful in 1966, (even features the car/truck horns in the instrumental bridge!), "California Dreaming", featuring the signature backing vocals and harmonies, just like the Mamas and the Papas, Runaway a Del Shannon hit, a Bee Gees Medley of four songs, a Supremes medley of four songs, "Unchained Melody" Righteous Brothers, Roe’s superb voice will send goose bumps all over you on this classic, "Aquarius/Let the Sunshine In" from “Hair” in 1969. The band captures the feel of the original version by Fifth Dimension with the complex vocals handled superbly by Roe and Sheryl, Johnny O’Keefe's medley Sing/She’s My Baby, Aussie King of Rock n Roll splendidly handled by Sheryl on vocals and the band really rocking.
